Help me get 4Ghz? 1090T - Page 2

For $75, the TA870U3+. It is a 4+1 phase but very decent in quality and heatsinked. All other decent boards I can find i.e. with beefier 8+2 phase, are just beyond $100. This should be able of at least a fair overclock (below 1.5V) on the x6.

Alright thanks for the info! I actually thought it was the power supply at first so I swapped that out with the one mentioned in the OP, and there wasn't much of a difference :/ but I'll get on a new board asap.

id really recommend going for the biostar ta890fx board. Id rather stay away from a 4+1 all together with a x6 but thats just me.

Yeah most 4+1 and x6 are not optimal unless you're using a quality 4+1 like on the TA870U3+; budget is a concern. Ideally with an x6 which is VRM heavy and overclocking, you should be using a beefier power phase for more stable, safer and better overclocking due to cleaner power.

ECS Black Series A785GM-M
I just checked out AMD's site, and this was the among the recommended motherboards, but I couldn't find whether or not it was 4+1. I have a ASUS M4A79XTD EVO and I know it's 8+2 (or 4+4+2, whatever), but I wasn't able to find the phase specs for the ECS board, or how you know that TA870U3+ board is 4+1 (not that I don't believe you, I just can't find where that's listed for any board, with the exception of my own).

I think that board I linked to might be a 3+1 also...

Looks like I'll be getting that board, but I see it has no onboard gpu, which I was currently using for my current board because I was saving for a better gpu. Perhaps there is an 8+2 board with an onboard gpu for just a little over $100?

my MSI 880 E45 is stable with 200fsb and multiplier push to 4.3 with stock cooling on a T1090 in my Antec THREE HUNDRED case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130276

I would think that you're going about it wrong; if you push up the FSB EVERYTHING starts to go unstable. You've probably already damaged your ram.

the T1090 responds to multipliers through the roof, I've run foldingSMP and supcom at 4.3 and never broke 50°C on the cores. The 880 E45 is a single sixteen but everything on it works great, haven't tested the 4250 on-board card, given I've a 6970 I won't either.

I don't think you should pick out a motherboard based on the integrated graphics.

I don't know if this is 8+2 or not.

Speaking of saving money, and I don't know if this one is 8+2 either...

This is what I would get.
