Help me get 4Ghz? 1090T - Page 4

I would get your stock timings and make sure that all your timings are set correctly at the stock speed. My RAM defaulted to 1333 also. The timings were set to strange sort of specs also, and I'm pretty sure they stayed that way when I changed the clock speed to 1600 (or 800 because of the DDR thing).

I guess my RAM has different timings based upon what clock speed it is running at...

Anyways, double check your timings. When you set everything to "auto" in your bios, it sort of does strange things, or it did for me anyways.

In the SPD section, what are those timings/voltages representing? Anything special? Or is it just whatever your RAM is rated at?

PS; new mobo shipped out today so I'll have it Wednesday for sure and I'll be able to start overclocking this thing.

You should clock it up to 1600Mhz @ CL9 with the rated voltages. With 1333 it should run 1.5V.
At 250 bus clock using the x6.66 multiplier will get you 1666Mhz, above rated; it may be unstable. You may need to back down slightly to 240 bus clock to get 1600Mhz. Remember running up to 1.75V is also safe as it is rated.

Another thing is that this RAM has known problems on AM3 platform.... I don't usually suggest it, I've seen a lot of people here with this RAM & problems getting rated speed

Once I get home I'll change the settings and see how it goes.. All I know is last time I tried running it at 1600 I was getting locked up a lot.

Alright so I came home and set it to 9-9-9-24-33 1T at 240FSB 1600mhz RAM speed. 1.65v. Booted up fine. I didn't bother running a prime95 test, but within 15 minutes of < 10% constant cpu usage the computer locked up.

My CPU clock is running at 200, when I set my ram to the 1600 setting in my BIOS, it runs at 1600.
When I OC my clock to 210, my RAM runs at 1680 (flawlessly).
If your FSB runs stock at 200 like my clock does, running a 240 OC might have your RAM running at 1920. I don't know if a FSB is the same as my core clock, or if your RAM speed is calculated differently than mine, but it should be something worth checking.

The point being RAM at the 1600 setting doesn't run at 1600Mhz on my machine when I OC my clock; it runs faster in proportion to my clock speed.

got the m4a87td evo too and it clocks great! got my phenom II 965 blackE to 4.1 ghz at about 240 (not shure, in school right now) and 17x (also works 18x on 4.3ghz) temps are allmost the same as on stock

UPDATE!:

Alright everyone I installed the motherboard and it works great!
Settings:
4.1ghz (293 x 14)
1.55vcore --> This gets reduced because I have vcore droop
1.467v - 1.488v is what CPUz reads under load.
1.3 cpu-nb vcore
2970mhz NB(I think? in that area anyway)

Haven't got to messing with RAM yet so we'll just say that's stock.

Here's the new problem - During Intel burn test the CPU speed gets reduced to 2.3ghz and then the temps drop, and then it goes back to 4.1ghz and they rise again. I have Cool n' Quiet and CE1 disabled in the bios. My guess are my VRM's are getting too hot STILL? even with the heatsink? Do I need a fan? Lol

You might be able to tweak the vCore on that board with LLC

What are your CPU temps at load? The improved VRMs should be 8+2 and heatsinked, and shouldn't really ever overheat that far. This time it might be the CPU.

With prime it gets up to 55C, but usually between 50-52. and well I haven't been able to go long into intel burn test to see what they get up to.

I tried enabling LLC and it gives me voltage rise and my temps went through the roof.
