If the statement that was made in October still holds true, then Bulldozer will have higher single threaded performance than the current Phenom II's. That is always good news, if true.

If there was lower single-thread performance, AMD would have seriously screwed Bulldozer up.

I'm waiting for the Bulldozer to finally build a new rig. I look at some of the rigs in here and the people looking to already upgrade puzzle me. I'm still running a 6 to 8 year old dual core 64 lol and with the GTX260 I just finished Crysis 2 on high setting comfortably. I don't know why some people upgrade high end new stuff for slightly more high end new stuff lol. I've had my rig for like 6 years and swapped the vid card once. It is time for me soon and I think I can wait till June. I can be a bit more patient. Now if only I was patient enough to run my gtx260 on the new rig till the gtx600+ line comes out that would be nice but unfortunately I have a feeling I won't last.

The Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is 6 years old? Impressive that you ran Crysis 2 on high with that system. I dunno if i should get a Nvidia or AMD graphics card now,or see if i can wait until at least next November.

The only prices out so far is $700. I assume that is for the 8 core CPU+motherboard+ram.

Yes should be around $700 according to the one graph we saw but it stated "system" so its hard to say what all that includes.

My apologies. About 4-5 years but I was running a 5600+ and made the mistake. The 6000+ is a hand me down. I think I had it since about early 2007. Yea, averaged about 48fps(fraps) in Crysis 2 with a 216 cores Evga260gtx on Very High settings (those are medium in the game actually because the names of the settings are wacky; high->very high->extreme). I'm surprised what this processor still does so when I see people complaining about performance with their T1055 and so on you have to forgive me when I get puzzled a bit by that. I have a set time for when I build a computer instead of doing what some do and when a game like metro 2033 comes along and woops my ass I don't dish out a grand on a new processor and vid card. Some games also have ****ty programming and optimization, like splinter cell convictions where I get 15fps on medium settings for some reason but run Crysis 2 almost on full...makes no sense. Either way, I was going to be getting the T1100 but because June is around the corner why not wait right? I wasn't going to buy an Intel anyway, not that I have anything against them.

$700 is extremely reasonable if that includes the mobo and ram. I piece things separately however. I find $250 - $350 for the processor a sweet spot meaning I might have to settle for the FX6 line potentially. All I do is game, music production, and internet so I will be fine. If the 8 core is below $450 then I will get that. However for something new as the BD I wouldn't be surprised with a $700 price tag on it alone.

ATI is so strong in the video cards now. Nvidia always was also. When I make a choice I really go on what I can afford. Evga always has such low prices at my local E-stores for the Oced version that I rarely even have to contemplate what to get. Like a GTX570 OC evga for $300 after rebate right now that is really itching me but I need a new system, this ram and computer will bottleneck. I would maybe wait a little longer till you know what you want.

What resolution did you use for Crysis 2? Crysis 2 is a console port,so it doesn't take alot to run the game at a decent number of FPS.
I built my system about 2 months ago,i'm happy with it so far. I might get a Bulldozer,if the higher end 4 core,or 8 core isn't too expensive. I almost need a graphics card, this rig is on integrated ATI graphics. I dunno which to get,a GTX560 Ti or a HD6870.

Might make my sig rig into my lanning rig and leave it at my cousins house or something. Then buy myself a Llano or BD for scientific crunching and gaming at home.

You only live once, so if money isn't an issue (if the pc parts don't affect real life issues) why not but what you want? Lifes too short to worry about money if you're comfortable. Of course, if you don't really want something, don't buy it.
