Intel Core i7 920 endless 124 error please help - Page 2

Thread Starter
My i7 920 runs at 1.296V stock. Also my CPU seems to be stable because I don't get any 101 errors asking for my VCORE. The only code I get is the 124 which means QPI / Dram.

I have C0/C1 stepping.

Also I just set my QPI / DRam to my CPU's vcore. Both are now at 1.33125

There's your problem. The non-D0 stepping 920s are known for being awful overclockers. I withdraw all my advice and defer to the dude who's tried to OC one of those.

Aeschylus - How the hell did you managed 1.2v for Core i7 at 3.8GHz? HT off? Maybe I missing something x_X

I did it slowly and methodically. 2 MHz bclk at a time, starting from 1.1v at 2.66. I got:

3.400 GHz @1.10625v
3.600 GHz @1.1325v
3.7176 GHz @ 1.16875v
QPI @ 1.20625v
3.800 GHz @ 1.20625v
QPI @ 1.2125v

Hitting 4.0GHz was my goal, but at 3.9GHz I hit the max for my stock voltages. My 2.66 was running at 1.225v when I got it, so I made that my max for when I tuned it.

Every chip is different, but I firmly believe in learning the personality of every CPU and system setup. It takes time, but it's well worth the effort.

Edit: I also stayed at 3.8 because of the i7's funny memory controller. I would have to lower my RAM speeds at 3.9

Ok so I set basically everything to auto except for my cpu voltage (because on auto I got a 101 error asking for more voltage).

Here is what Asus TurboV reports:

BCLK: 185 (x20)
CPU Voltage: 1.33125
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.66
QPI/DRAM Core Volt: 1.27500

I find it interesting that my QPI/DRAM is running that low on Auto. It is interesting that XMP set my QPI/DRAM to 1.4 off the bat.

So since I have the values of what my system is looking for should I enter these manually or can I leave everything on Auto?
