How exactly does the GTX 590 work?

It's a dual card setup, I know that. However, are they somehow connected magically and act as one card, or are they simply two cards that are in SLI?

They will show up as 2 separate cards and can be run individually or in SLI.

two cards fused onto 1 PCB. Theoretically it's 2 cards that take up 1 pci-e slot.

Especially since overclocking the 590 can cause a small fire. smile.gif

Two GF110 cores on the same PCB, linked with a single NF200 for onboard SLI. With better power delivery, I think it's the perfect card; quiet, powerful, CUDA and Physx, and only takes up two slots.

Mmm, what's an NF200 and is "onboard SLI" different than SLI with two separate cards?

Yup, if only they didn't skimp on the power delivery. Kinda sad.

and if you have each gpu doing different tasks they're only on 8x slots
if you want THAT kind of performance you can use an intel 55 board
post #10 of 18
If you open up a GTX 590 you will see 2 GF110 Chips...

So 2 cards on 1 PCB
