Thread Starter
The very first retail 890FX offering featuring full Bulldozer support with the AM3b "black" socket and EUFI bios is available for pre-order in the UK
http://rebelgadgets.com/product.php?ProductID=631

meanwhile, back in the States, the 890GX with"black" socket and EUFI has hit Newegg in 2 varients. That's right, you can purchase now,in stock!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157244
and
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157243
unfortunately, looks like only a 4 phase design on these 890G and 880G series, guess we will have to wait for the 890FX Deluxe 5 to arrive.I expect it to be very, very soon.

Intel

Anyway, ASRock has been impressing me; it might only be a 4 phase motherboard but that doesn't matter to everyone. Then again, this is overclock.net. It's a sweet looking board though. Won't be long before one can jump to AM3+ for a 70 euro motherboard and a 150 euro CPU. Thanks AMD.

4+2 phase? Smells like burnt 'dozer.
I think I'm going to wait a bit before I jump into Bulldozer/SB.

One, I just plain don't have the money, and have no credit.

Two, new tech is rarely without flaws, if ever, and although I doubt Bulldozer will have any issues anywhere near in magnitude to the Sandy Bridge chipset problem, the TLB bug or the FDIV bug, it's probably better to wait at least a month or two.

Three, although I'm fully confident that Bulldozer will be an improvement over AMD's current offerings, how much of an improvement won't be known for certain until it launches.

I'd like to go AMD for the "rebel factor," (green's also my favorite color, not that it'd affect my decision) but I'm not going to gimp myself if Intel is better. Overclock-ability is also something of interest to me, since I'll finally be off my garbage Hewlett-Packard motherboard that won't let me overclock. Although I do expect BD to be a monster overclocker like Sandy Bridge (and possibly more so with an unlocked base clock) my prediction could be wrong.

At any rate, June feels like a long way away.

Probably so. I'm waiting for the 990's and 8+2 phase boards.

Not really.

Just keep the VRMs actively cooled and don't pump in absurd amounts of voltages into them, and you should be fine.

Out of that list there's only 1 ASRock board. You can't judge all of their boards from 1 going poof.

MSI on the other hand is a different story.
