I forgot where I read it but (I think) it does make a difference, im looking for it. In the mean time hope those settings work for ya. Post back and let us know. By the way I just wanted to ask, are you looking for max overclock on your chip or max 24/7? on that note whats the max vcore you will go up to?

Max vcore um I'll go up to 1.63v that's what I did on my last chip but ofc I can't cool that real well lol so no Prime 95. Folding at home... maybe

And I'm looking for max overclock and max 24/7 so both.

Well the OC I'm doing with the 45x multi at 4.7 GHz is using 1.49v But I can get it 24/7 Folding@Home stable with just 1.425v and that'll keep it Prime 95 Blend stable for about 2 hours. And yeah as I said in OP this chip can't compare to the first 2500k and motherboard I got, I just wish I'd never even thought of attaching that H50 >v< that screwed me over bigtime...

Anyways any more ideas?
OS boot options is just before the Windows Splash screen, usually if you have two OS installed it will ask you which to choose. Looks like the screen when you press f8 after post and you get to windows safe mode options.

put everything back into default in BIOS

and follow this guide religiously

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...67&postcount=2

^ follow everything on that to the TEE except for set your vcore to 1.45 and set the multiplier to 48 that should yield you 4.8ghz and do prime blend test for one hour.

watch the temps, if the temps get over 80C I would not keep it at that OC for 24/7 or lower the vcore. My i5 2500k runs 4.8ghz at 1.35v, YMMV.

- start at 48 mulitiplier
- set vcore 1.45
- follow the rest of the guide religously

I'm using the TIM that came with my V6 which someone in the HAF X Club believes is CM ThermalFusion so it should be almost as good as a new thing of AS5.

Ok I tried that but... it BSOD'd with errorcode 124 when I told it to run Prime 95 Blend.

did you try those?

leave everything else and bump vcore to 1.48 and try again.

EDIT: before doing that remove one stick of ram and run 2 sticks at dual channel and then run prime95, if it fails then run memtest and then try with 1.48v

I'm trying it with the EPU settings enabled and it seems to be cooler even at 1.48v. I'm trying 4.8 GHz with 1.48 vcore and EPU enabled. Temps are only up to 66C.

Anything over 1.38 is going to damage your CPU, regardless of whether you're on water or not. My friend has 4800MHz running 16 hours Prime95 stable @1.36v.

So if you have the money to burn go ahead and use a 1.5v overclock!

No one really knows what will damage the CPU as they haven't been out long enough. Some people even say up to 1.45v is safe for 24/7. Right now I think 4.7 @1.425Folding@Home stable will be my 24/7. Right now I'm working on my highest overclock. Having the EPU enabled seems to help considerably with temperature which is the other half of the degradation story. Besides if anything happens in 2 years I'll just RMA again lol.

So any advice on OC?
