Would upgrading to a Rampage III Formula help my overclock at all?

I can't seem to get past 3.7Ghz on my board right now without pumping more voltage into it and I really don't want to. I know what kind of mobo can affect an OC, but would it be a noticeable difference? Getting to 4Ghz stable would be nice.

I also kinda want to upgrade to match my HAF X and GPU color schemes

While I absolutely love my Rampage III Formula, you're not going to get away with getting much more of an overclock without having to add more voltage - there is nothing wrong with safely adding voltage and not getting too crazy.

Also remember that 920 C0's are notorious for not really overclocking that great, (compared to other i7's) so if you want to get into that 4GHZ range youre going to start needing to add decent voltage to it.

If I remember reading correctly, i7 920 C0 top out at around 3.8. You probably could get it to 4.0, but you're looking at much more voltage and substantially improved cooling.

Sometimes the batch number on the chip has something to do with it. Certain batches tend to do better than other. You could have received a bad batch.

Why do you care if you OC is over 3.7? Your i7 is fast enough what made you think reaching 4ghz would improve anything?
