Fan Controller Problems

Thread Starter
HI Folks,
Hopefully someone can help with a problem i am having with the Sythe KazeMaster Ace fan Controller. I have been using it for over a year on an Antec 300 case with 1x140mm and 3x120mm fans. No probs, worked perfect great!
Now i have upgraded to a HAF X case and upon plugging in my fan controller to the 2x200mm fan and 1x140mm fan, it alarms and flashes on the display. If i raise the speed very slowly a fan may pick up, but its definatley not right.
Would i be right in saying that these fans are too big for my controller? Is there a controller that will cope with the new fans?

which Kaze Master Ace do you have? There is a 2 channel and 4 channel version. They are both rated for 12w a channel how many amps are your fans?

its the 4 channel version. I know nothing about Watts or Amps so please excuse my lack of knowledge about this. My stock side fan on the HAF X case is 200mm, 12W, 0.3A.
It runs up when i increase the power slowly but if i put it full instantly it alarms. The 220mm is a real no go, alarms all the time.

12w is low on the power scale, the fan controller is limited in total amps(power) it can supply so the problem may be one of the channels.

Best thing to do is unplug all fans to the Kaze controller. Plug one 200mm into the first channel and test it. Then move it to the next channel. If the fan spins without any beeps, bells or whistles, hook up another fan on a different channel and test again.

+1 on this suggestion and to figure out how many watts a fan is 12 volts x amps = watts that HAF X 200mm would be 3.6 watts

Cheers for that wee tip, +1

Anyway managed to sort the problem. Set it all up again and noticed that the controller alarms for about three seconds the a flashing 0RPM, but then once the fan has spun up, it stops alarming a and displays a RPM. So simple solution, disable the alarm!
Easiest solutions often work. And there i was contemplating a new controller!
