I did a fresh install and the problem went away. I also re-installed PB. Not had any issues since.

Doing a fresh install won't work for people who own a card fro mthe 6000 series of AMD, unless they stop using monitoring programs such as MSI Afterburner, GPU-Z... etc

I've tried it my self quite a few times already on my 6970 CFX, I have to turn MSI Afterburner off if I want to play without random freezes.

Just turn off MSI Afterburner, looks like Punkbuster screwed us 6000 card owners and we can't use MSI Afterburner (Or any related program for GPU Monitoring like GPU-Z, EVGA PRecission... etc) or else the game will make the whole computer freeze.

Still waiting for Punkbuster to fix it, it's been almost a month already.
huh what? Shay, she puts me in a trance.

Some games will not load at all when i had an older version of afterburner. I'd c2d instantly.

Ok, so MSI cut off worked, I played straight for about two hours, which is great, no unrecoverable crashes, but I just had the game crash back to my desktop. So I didn't have to do a hard reset, but I am satisfied as it is now. But why would I be getting recoverable crashes now?

Those are just random crashes, happens with some drivers, try other driver versions.

Happens to MANY MANY people, with both Nvidia and AMD.

You may not get to fix it at all, or you will, who knows.

Like Kcue said, the crash to desktops are just part of BC2...Only thing I could recommend for that is checking your game files ( if you have BC2 through Steam ) Go to your games in steam->Right click the game->Go to properties->Select "Local Files Tab"->"Verify Intergrity of Game Cache

...Other than that a fresh install sometimes helps. I had a few crash to desktops when I first downloaded the game from Steam. But after my recent install haven't had any...

I already did that it found 11 files, I haven't had the game crash since I turned off MSI and I had the random crash. Now it hasn't crashed yet, so it was the overclocking software. Thanks to all that helped.

I don't want to sound like a broken record but this win update is the only thing that freezes
this game for me;
KB2454826 (you would be surprised how well this game can run on fresh non updated win 7 )
other than that the game is smooth MSI afterburner ,fraps ,punk buster ..no problem
increasing (mV) or not running on board sound also helps
