Ping Spikes In Half Life : Opposing Force

**OLD** (Forget this part as I have resolved the mbps changing issue.)-----------------------------
I am not sure if I should have posted this in the other thread I made or not as this is not related to it, but now I have another problem that needs solving. Whenever I play in any server, I notice my ping constantly spiking up from the usual 60 ish to around 100 or higher, which usually causes my weapon animations to jump around, and for delayed effects, such as me shooting. I have looked into adjusting my rate settings, but that cannot be the cause because on my old computer when it had both Win 7 and XP it played fine without any rate adjustments, and it used the same adapter and router I am using now. I have looked into the status of my D-Link DIR 655 router, and it says that I am connected, but only receiving 165 mbps, which is around half the number I should be receiving, considering both the router and my D-Link DWA 142 adapter use wireless N and 300 mbps. I also notice when my sister is connected (she has a wireless G laptop) my mbps plummets even further, and I only receive around 30 mbps, and she receives 1 mbps. This greatly increases my spiking and makes me teleport all over the place to the point where the game is unplayable. This is definitely not right, as we both should be receiving the highest possible mbps considering she is upstairs, but a few feet from my room, and I am upstairs right on top of the router downstairs. I also used to get the maximum 300 mbps before when I was using the D-Link wireless manager on my old computer, or at least higher than 250 mbps. Is there any way to correct this?

**New Discovery** - I have noticed something else recently. I have been suspicious of this for a while. For some reason, when I am aiming at someone in multiplayer, when he and I are standing perfectly still with my crosshair dead center on him, I notice his name appears, but then disappears, and reappears a second or two later, and continues that cycle. A steam friend of mine went in game and checked to see if that happened to him, and sure enough, it did not. When he looked at someone, their name constantly showed. I also remember the names constantly showed on my old PC as well.

So then, why now are the names appearing and disappearing when I look at someone on my new PC? This could possibly have something to do with my ping spikes and poor hit registration. Do not say it is rate settings either, as it cannot be for a few reasons. I have always played OP4 with all default network settings before and had no issues, and let me remind you I have been using the same router and adapter I am using now. I also have tried so many rate settings and whatnot, and none of them seem to work, but instead make the situation worse, the same, or slightly better, although I don't see why I need to change the settings because as I said before, I played with all default network settings and the same adapter and router with the same driver and firmware versions as I did before.

I would try another router or change the wifi card in your computer.
But really does sound like the router has gone bad on you!

The funny thing is, this router has worked perfectly fine before when I had my old pc, and never, NEVER had an issue. Now on this new pc, I am getting constant spikes and whatnot. I have also noticed something else recently. I have been suspicious of this for a while. For some reason, when I am aiming at someone in multiplayer, when he and I are standing perfectly still with my crosshair dead center on him, I notice his name appears, but then disappears, and reappears a second or two later, and continues that cycle. I believe I am getting closer to solving this annoying mystery.
