[Resolved] Bought a steam game, any way to get a refund? - Page 4

Im from the UK and tried to get them to refund Crysis 2 as mine runs at 1fps after 10mins or smooth gameplay. I argued the demo was fine etc but they just keep refereeing you back to EA and i have over 160 steam games so i don't think you will get a refund mate.

Picture you're the owner of Steam. You built it up from this little platform to what it is today and you feed your family from it. You have made most attempts to accommodate everyone with your creation and providing a fun filled entertaining interface for people to game on and with.

You have even gone the extra mile to include screen shots, reviews, demos and videos of games so people can access them BEFORE buying......you see where I am going with this? Chalk it up as a loss dude. Steam didn't put a gun to your head and say buy this game nor did they make this game. They sell it. Write a letter to Ubisoft above all else if you are dissatisfied with their game.

Not trying to sound like an a$$ its just I see these threads all the time and it irks me. When I buy a game that sucks I am mad at myself. Especially with all the tools I have at my fingertips to review a game before buying it.

or just wait for performance patches, as lots of new games need them. BF2 memory leaks anyone? It will be fine I'm sure, just have to be patient for fixes to arrive.

In the UK at least places like Amazon and Play are 9/10 cheaper than Steam and less of a pita to get returns from under Distance Selling and the SOGA.

Does anyone refund opened and installed games? I don't think so.

I think this is just one of those things that you have to be aware of when you buy a game, is that you might not like it, it might suck, it might lag like hell. If anything, you could write a letter to whomever made the game, and voice your disappointment, and see if they offer to give/refund you anything. But unfortunately it's not store (steam or otherwise) policy to refund used games.

I think it just depends on the CSR you end up with and if you have any previous refunds in your account history. I personally don't think you deserve a refund. It's too bad there aren't any sites on the internet where they review video games.

I buy games from gamestop all the time, and sorry to break the news to you, but we all have to pay taxes, unless you want to end up like Wesley snipes.
And whats wrong with downloading updates , you have to wait for steam to update the game you're playing, its the same thing. You make it sound so difficult in buying games from a store, only takes me 2 mins man and i am back home gaming within 5.

Another thing, if you open up a game , you can take it back to the store, not sure where you lived at, but in the united states you can do that.

I've seen them offer refunds (I've seen a few of them, actually), but I've never seen a refund given because "I don't like this game" or "it's not what I was expecting". I don't think you'll be getting a refund with that reason, sir. Perhaps you can get used to the controls and maybe they will patch some of the bugs eventually?

its more than what I wrote in the OP. the sound is cracking, Alot. the game runs terrible (yes there is a patch coming, but still), the menus are bugged out of control (cant even see some buttons unless I find them by mousing over them in the blind.
