30GB ssd enough? - Page 3

Definitely go for at least 64GB. My C: Drive was reserved only for Windows 7 so I made it 30GB initially. I've had to enlarge it several times after programs still insist on placing files on C:. 40GB would have definitely not been enough.

Or maybe I should go RAID 0? :O

And, remember the difference between GiB and GB. The drive's capacity will be advertised in billions of bytes, but Windows will report the capacity in the binary notation (GiB). A 60GB drive will be reported by Windows as containing about 55.9GB, for example, so expect Windows to report around 27-28 "GB" for a 30GB drive.
^This People should read up on the Winsxs folder for Win7. Mine on my 30Gig SSD takes up almost 12Gigs on its own not to mention everything else from the windows folder. I have 5Gigs free with NOOO apps installed and a page file max size of 1024MB.

Yes but the page file isnt the biggest concern. The Winsxs folder is, and you cant move it.

You can also free up some space by disabling hibernation. That freed up 6.3GB from my drive.

30GB would BARELY be enough if it even will fit.

Right now with just Win 7, M$ Office, and I think just Afterburner and a few other small programs I'm @ ~ 35GB free out of a 60/64GB.

I personally would not go lower then 60-80Gb. 80 just to be safe. The page file system will take the same space as the OS install. I bought a 40 Gig orginally and I do regret it. Just my 2 cents.
