its just a trendy analogy that video snobs started up to defend 24fps, really the primary reason we use 24fps is not for any sort of ideal image or motion quality, its because film is finite thus expensive. Now that we're moving more and more to digital formats the issue of film expense is becoming relatively moot
really, soaps look the way they do more because of lighting, angles, and studio heavy sets more than anything they have to do with frame rate
just like with anything film related, the success and failure of the frame rate will largely come down to direction
The whole concept that 24fps for movies is perfect ''because we aren't supposed to see crystal clear images and motion and thus are allowed to use our imagination to "fill in the blanks"'' is just flat out ridiculous, because we should otherwise be reading books.
