[EG] James Cameron ponders 48 or 60fps shooting of future Avatar films - Page 15

this won't fit on a bluray disc... avatar in 24fps already utilizes the full 50gb capacity. the only way 48fps could work is by having double sided bluray (flipping the disc over half way through the movie) or by some time of new format that supports 100gb+ capacity.

They've already made 200GB BDROM. No player supports it yet though.

Ok, I'm going to risk sounding stupid here, but ARE YOU HIGH?! just about every movie out there on a bluray is under 12gb. 1080p is 1080p and 24/30 fps is 24/30 fps.

The only way it can magically jump from 12 to 50 GB while keeping the same res, fps, and codex, is to make the movie roughly 8.33 HOURS long.

Pretty sure Avatar is not that long. Maybe all the extra crap that not a soul in the world actually watches make it add up to 50GB, but why not just put those on another CD if you are so scared of losing them?

Honestly, there aren't good enough actors to make film feel "real," if it were shot in enough detail that it looked like you were standing 3 feet away in a literal sense. You can always tell when people are acting when it's shot in super high frame. Only when things look movieish do you actually fall for them. Me, at least. I don't buy acting in crystal clear environments.

hcmc <3 land of pho

but problem with this is that youtube doesn't play at 60fps. Youtube is never good for anything higher than 30fps.. 24 vs 30 comparisons are fine but with 60 you wont be seeing it properly.
The 24 in this video looks really choppy.. im guessing its a problem with down syncing... if it was originally taken at 60, dropping down to 24 is an issue.
