Is Intel really that superior in gaming? - Page 15

Should not even bother as son as you have a single GPU. Once you go for 2 or more GPU it means you are seeking max fps available so it makes sense to get the faster CPU. Also though Core i5/7 are faster clock/clock with todays low standard not that demanding games its pointless to get a faster CPU just for gaming. I can play any game out there with a single HD 6970 with 950 X4 @ 3.2Ghz and feel no difference as Core i7 4.4Ghz.

You must be blind then? Because the guy in question posted screenshots and the second was someone elses rig.

I know myself that in Just Cause 2 I got a 10FPS increase from jumping from LGA775 Q9450 to LGA1155 i5-2500 on the same hardware, and my GPU is utterly terrible.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, Crysis only using two cores. Whatever, man!

Intel is better in performance than AMD. Most AMD people know this and buy AMD anyways, why are you trolls trying to suggest otherwise? There are many, many facts out there for the people who give a damn to find. Many held by either OCN members or professional and amateur review websites.

But no, of course not. There's a worldwide conspiracy against AMD.

Vote the underdog! Buy AMD! The little guy needs your help (to trash forums with information pulled directly from arses!)

Clock for clock the Intel CPU's are superior but AMD will rock in games as well as long if your other components are well respected. What other people already pointed out

on the other hand, i remember loud moaning "damn it, new sockets again, intel"
now, suddenly it is okay, nobody complaints, awesome...

now instead they will advise that you should throw your current machine, and change to sb ..
interesting enough, seems nobody is "advising" this to current nehalem users, awesome part2..
Ikr? It's the same people who complain that intel changes sockets too often, yet they stay loyal to the brand. I know someone is just gonna say "LULZ intel getting sued? LAWLZ CUZ EY EM DEE IZ TEH BUTTHURT CAUSE INTEL BETTUR?"
Intel fanboys gonna fanboy.

Well,it looks like Thuban sucks at a poorly coded game that can't even use 4 cores & benchmarks made for intel's,i'd better chuck it in the garbage and go buy a SB.

X6 is still more than enough for any game that can decently use both the CPU & GPU.

Pretty much comes down to this. How much performance does one NEED?
For today's highly ported games, you can bet you don't need much at all. This means you can save a ton of money and still get the same VISIBLE (playable) performance. Of course, that obviously depends on what you choose. Still, I can bet anything I enjoy BFBC2 exactly as much as one of you with perhaps a highly overclocked Core i7-2600K and dual GeForce GTX 580's in SLI.

lmho. The fanboy war is amusing.
Lets be honest and real here shall we?
1. People have personal preferences. Deal with it. You can't change someone's preference simply because you don't like it.
2. This is OCN. A Huge number of members care ALOT about numbers .... which is why people shell $1000's to build a system that (aside replacing their space heaters and christmas trees in the winter) will give them an extra 20fps. Other people here just want to game on their PC's and be happy.
3. I'd say go for the best bang for your buck. Someone will vote Intel and say you're more future-proofed for games and applications which don't know what more than 2-4 cores means. Someone will say go AMD and get lots of cores if you need that many. The price issue is dependent on how you justify your investment to yourself.

That said, many find it easier to overclock the SB's to higher clocks than Phenoms. However, we ARE still comparing architectures of over a 2-year age gap. let's keep it real here. Intel *may* beat AMD's current offers in many benchmarks, and may also be evenly matched when and AMD beast overclocks the tar out of his/her rig.
For regular apps and gaming, I don't think you'll be hurt by either choice. For extreme gaming, I'll probably push for the i5 for now. Let's see what Bulldozer brings to the board. The truth is that Intel is much faster with architecture redesigns than AMD is, and as such, they'll usually pull ahead before AMD can catch up (a relative statement of course). Maybe it will change later, let's wait and see.

If you have no upgrade plans in the near future and your PC use is more multicore dependent, maybe u should go AMD. Personally however, I'd go Intel because I'm more used to them.

Come on guys, lets all be mature here and respect other people's opinions, ... remember, they're just like noses....

I seem to notice a marked increase in the Flame-war debates just prior to a superior product being released. The question is,will the same guys touting their superior SB scores jump over to AMD if Bulldozer knocks them off their perch? Will be interesting to see.
