The fact that Sandy Brigde is more efficient, does not mean it's that much better in games !

see?? and thats the whole point of this thread and backed up with more screenies/proof..

Yes, Uncore doesn't help as much for Nehalem as it does for Thuban and Deneb, but it still helps. I've seen some people get 4000MHz Uncore (needed an absurd amount of QPI/VTT voltage though) and it added about a 5% gain in GFLOPS, but yeah, nothing earth-shattering. Anyway, all I was looking for was that you actually tried to up the Uncore freq, which you did, so that's all.

An exact system to mine, only difference is a SB 5.4k 2600k, nails a 97 on metro. That's a 14 to 17 difference... as a 920 owner, it's hard to ignore them apples. There's no I'm guessing, you would be severely bottlenecked. The other thing that blows me away, is that my 920 has no legs left to push the 3rd card at that res according to the Metro Bench thread.

I'm waiting on BD and Ivy. I don't wanna make the same waiting game mistake jumping on an i7 9xx setup right as SB was coming out. Don't get me wrong, its pretty darn fast, but at the same time I can't help but look at the other setup and go !@#$% dammit. eek.gif

LOL indeed. It's always the case with computer upgrades. Something better always comes out a few months down the line. It just hurts when it does a few weeks down the line! tongue.gif

I won't, but then, I won't be upgrading for at least a year. I'll go with whichever is going to get me the best performance at the time. I only got this SB setup through a trade... and the trader originally asked me about 6 Tri-Cool fans I had for sale and I ended up trading mobo's and CPU's with him!

I just got extremely annoyed earlier on by:

1. Being called a fanboy. Far from it. Intel IS more superior right now. Right now being the keywords. Who knows what Bulldozer will do?

2. People denying that a SB upgrade really does give a performance hike. It does. Benchmarks show this and I personally saw it. I jumped two generations in one upgrade, though, so of course I saw a big increase.

3. Some idiot was trying to argue against hard evidence, one guy with an x4 PII and a 6950 and one guy with an SB and a 6950. Clocked only 200MHz apart and yet the SB setup had 20FPS lead and the SB min FPS was the same as the PII average FPS. Yet somehow there was some totally reasonable explanation that somehow put both CPU's on level playing fields.

4. The insinuation that I'm only here saying what I am because I have a SB CPU. I said earlier I only got this in a trade. Previously, I had no interest in SB. Regardless, one only need look at benchmarks to see that SB Vs PII = SB winner.

5. This worldwide benchmark conspiracy against AMD. Yeah, I remember the fiasco back in 2003 and the other one a couple of years back. I assumed that had been sorted. But, sorry, I forgot that all games were made in bias of Intel. Oh wait, I also when games were made adorning the AMD logo, too, way back when. Did I cry and moan back then? NO! I had an Athlon, so I didn't care!

There is so much more to mention, but to be honest it's not worth the time. Yeah, people have preferences, but in the terms of games performance there is a definitive answer to the question "is Intel really superior?" and the answer is, and has been (from me) the entire time: YES, currently they are superior and personally have been since Core2.

Regardless, Intel, currently, > AMD. Regardless of price. Intel, better, Intel, better. Say it with me because denying it isn't going to make it any less truer. And guess what?! If AMD pull a cat out of the bag I'll take great pride in tearing down any Intel fanboys that try to say any different!

Yeah, you ARE a total fanboy, aren't you?

And yeah, that guy was making excuses. Oh, what? AMD doesn't score as well in game benchmarks? Oh, that's because the game developer is totally bias to Intel. Sorry, but that's utter BS. I already knew about the compiler issue and I do not think it's that prevalent in games. So, yeah, excuses.

This thread says "Is intel really superior in gaming?" And you think that because this was posted in the AMD forum, that Intel users are not allowed to come and say their piece? What? Is the OP supposed to get a fair and balanced opinion from nothing but AMD users?

Yeah, about 3 people in this thread, who used AMD on their main rig, have correctly said that yes, currently Intel is superior for gaming. The rest like yourself have made a point in harassing and slamming Intel users like myself for giving their opinion. I cannot speak for the ACTUAL Intel fanboys that have been here causing grief. Those guys are tools. Report them and move on. But I haven't and NEVER have pursued anything short of the truth.

This thread needs closing desperately, if not for the people throwing the fanboy claim around, then totally because of the massive argument that has ensued.

Personally, this thread IS going to get reposted in the CPU neutral forum then at the VERY least you can't have people crying and moaning that the thread is in the AMD forum like that grants you some extra special protection from the truth. I HATE to think what people like you are going to be like when AMD does pull their finger out and take back the crown.
