[DT] Sony CEO accidentally outs possible 8MP camera in iPhone 5 - Page 7

People really are stupid when it comes to sensors.

The sensor size means nothing. Nikon uses SONY sensors, but what differentiates the Nikons from the Sony? The processor that Nikon makes.

They've already announced that they've dropped NFC. A risky move.

Sensor size is one of the main factors that helps determine the quality of photos. You realize this is one of the reasons full-frame sensors in the likes of the D3 and 1D lines are so sought after. Especially since their low light capabilities are brilliant.

Also quite often Sony manufactures the sensors for Nikon but they are still to Nikon specs and design. For example the D3x:

Quote:
“The Nikon D3X’s 24.5-megapixel FX-format (35.9 x 24.0mm) CMOS sensor was developed expressly for the D3X in accordance with Nikon’s stringent engineering requirements and performance standards, with final production executed by Sony.
