Let's hear who's happy with there amd cpu!! - Page 6

I am happy with my Phenom II =]

In fact I love it so much I'm selling my i72600k rigg, why? the i72600k is powerful beyond all means, but its not fun overclocking and is a complete waste of money considering I don't need all its power goodness. I'm an enthusiast overclocker and I believe the theory behind overclocking is to take a weak slow CPU and pushing it to the limits to match more higher expensive processors if not close enough to them =]

Now thats successful overclocking, haha

Heck I don't even need to overclock the i72600k and it outperforms every AMD Processor I previously owned period, but its not fun to tinker with, you set your multiplier and forget it and your good to go_ thats just no fun_

Overclocking is about getting Free Power for less money and AMD is really the only processors I can see that really touches that theory =]

Edit**
My first PC was an Intel =] Good old Compaq Presario with an Intel Celeron at 1.2ghz, boy was it a beast =] but it cost me DAMN nearly $2500 dollars on release day =[ Can't believe I paid for it too.

Owned a x4BE940, x3BE720, x2BE4000+,

Own x6BE1090t, x2 265..and all work wonders.

Had 2 intel fry on me P4 Northwood, E8400. Also owned P4 Prescott, Q6600 and currently have E6400@3.2

I'm probably forgetting some, but overall I like AMD for their great performance to price.

I overclocked a K-6 2 by switching a jumper on a board to 550MHz on air from a stock clock of 500MHz.

Once upon a time, that was a tall ratio!

CPU's:

K6 300
K6 450
Duron 800MHz Overclocked like Troopers
Athlon XP 2100

(then a moment of weakness) P4 2.6Ghz Netcrap I would have never touched intel after that .

Athlon 64 x2 6000+
Phenom II x3 720BE
Phenom II x6 1055T

Have you got nothing better to with your time? No he doesn't.

It's nice to see others out there have good memorys of the earlier CPUs that changed the whole game.

The K6s were pretty good the Durons were out of this world, the XP 2100 I never got one,
I ended up with an XP 1600+ which lasted up till a year ago (mobo gave it up).
The 6000+ was a decent OCer, I'm glad you missed the darker days of the first gen Phenoms,
I had a 7750 x2 and never could get it much over 3.2Ghz good cheap chip just not that great for OCing.
My current CPU is the 955 in my sig, very happy with it, $120, 3.8Ghz, four cores, whats not to like.
Thought about X6 but am waiting for BD.

Yep the goode olde pencil across the jumpers on the CPU to unlock the multi,
then switch the jumpers to turn a 800mhz duron into a 1.4 Ghz beast that would have cost almost twice.
Thats how old school OCing was, and if you stuffed up it went bang (no thermal shutdown).

Nah not really I don't have much going on with my board in RMA.

Do you have a problem with me posting that I'm happy for several people here who got awesome deals on great chips?

I've owned 12 AMD chips thus far, I see no reason to pick one company over the other. So long as they provide what you're seeking and do it at as good or better cost ratio than the competitions offerings there is no reason to pick one over the other.

Sucks to be you and me ATM, I am also waiting on an RMA but from Kingston Tech, hey we have to meet halfway on something lol.

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the net....lol.

I pick one company that I am comfortable with, not to say that I don't have 4-5 soc 775 Intel procs that I want to eventually put under DICE. Just waiting to have the fun(ds)

1x core 2 duo 2.6 GHz
3-4x Celeron D's (of varying clock speeds)

Well when I had the K6 300/450 I had not heard a lot about Overclocking, but I used to talk to a few of the "so called" geeks back at High School and they mentioned it and what it does. So that being said I blew the crap out of the 300MHz and I replaced it with the 450 because my uncle and I had a peeing contest with computers.

The Duron I got on the cheap from the local PC shop OEM.
The 2100 xp, my father bought me because I was going to be studying computers a long time ago but didn't so I am having to make up for it now.

The pentium 4 was a quick purchase, I needed a cheap PC to start up shop.

The 6000+ saw me good to 3.679GHz on a Noctua NH-U12P in push pull.

The 720 BE saw me to 3.8 GHz as a tri-core, then it went on to be a champ and unlocked to a quad and went on to 3.7GHz....yay (my skills are getting better)

The 1055T hasn't gone beyond 3.4GHz because I am too busy learning XHTML, VB, OpenCL, Analysis and Design, Cisco networking. But I can say that I did move it to 3GHz but I managed to undervolt it down to 1.86-1.2v. So I think I may of gotten lucky with this CPU also.

Still in RMA? You sent that weeks ago........

i do love my AMD,what you pay and what you can wring out of them is fantastic! Its just a shame they dont get the same kind of support from Mobo manufacturers as intel. Still, they are getting more OEM coverage from what i have seen in local prebuilt stuff.
