6950 has 2 different types of whine

So I know what capacitor whine sounds like. It has that high pitched noise that happens when framerates go high in menus and loading welcome screens.

But there's another deeper low noise whine that happens in some games. The sound is almost faint, but it definitely comes up when the fan is low. I don't know if this is specific for 6950 or what, but anybody know what I'm talking about?

Edit: never mind. it's my "rock solid" psu. it sounds just like in here.

It can be remedied if the noise is unbearably irritating to you and you're willing to open it up.

I'm glad you got it sorted out. These cards pull a decent load, surprisingly.

If I had a nickel every 69xx vid card noise thread falsely attributed to coil whine from the card, I'd be rich. The 69xx ref cards use digitally controlled vrms, no coils, there's no coils on the card.

Standard procedure involving the use of a hot glue gun on the source of the whining.
