First time OC for 955BE - Page 3

The 1st is a 4060mhz oc, the 2nd a 3700. Not really that much in it the ram, fsb, cpu/nb are the same. If you take heat and stability probs out lol..

The first is the same 4060oc, the second 4030oc higher cpu multi, lower fsb to 206 from 213, Ive kept the HT link as near as poss to 2000 + or - 100 which ever is nearer. The cpu/nb dropped to 2600+ from 2700+

Ram speed also dropped, the PI 1M test is the same but the bench test is deffo a bit better in the first 2060oc test.

I deduce that once your OC is 3.7 upwards you want to concentrate on Ram finding the stable balance between speed and timings, mine like 7-8-7-24 1t @ 1704 ive benched just about every possible permutation with them and spent ages finding that out. And Cpu/nb speed around 2700, or higher if you can do it

My head just exploded trying to comprehend all what you just said the first time I read it.

Well I'm not sure if my computer is 100% stable, but I'm happy that I can do binge day long SC2 runs at 4 vs 4 with the graphics fully maxed out at 60+ FPS. As long as I can do that I'm good. Besides Starcraft 2 there's not really anything CPU intensive that I use. I'm happy with my 4 GHz, DDR3 1600 RAM at default timings, and 2800 NB/CPU at comfortable temperatures. Only thing that seems a little hot is my 6950 Sapphire Radeon card that I did not unlock to a 6970 yet. It runs at max temperature of 74c when SC2 is playing with a lot of action on screen. Video cards are a different story though

I think you will find the GPU isnt excessively hot at 74 but dont take my word for it. I overclocked my 5770 yesterday first time I tried. What I did was ramp the settings up in amd overdrive, after reading roughly what you can expect. I then ran WEI and would get dodgy screen so took 5 off each setting and ran WEI again I did this till it stablised then, upped the two settings, GPU Clock and memoery by 5 one at a time till it went dodgy, then backed them off 10 each and called that my OC, everything seems stable. I didnt up the GPU voltage at all.
