Bios not detecting all Ram.

Thread Starter
Hi everyone!

I currently have a problem with my Ram. As stated in the topic, the bios won't detect the full 8Gigs of my DDR2 1066 Ram. In Windows, under System, it shows: "Installed Memory (RAM): 8.00 Gb (2.50Gb Usable)" When I use CPU-Z to check, it shows 8192Mb is installed. But the sticks are only running at 400Mhz per rather than the correct 1066Mhz. This is the first time this has happened. Since I opened and cleaned out the dust and put some suitable parts in to sell the outdated stuff for a new system, but this will be used in the meantime, so it's crucial that this gets fixed. I'm using four sticks of OCZ DDR2 1066 2Gb Ram. Any help is appreciated, for now, I'm going to do some research.

Thanks,
Kai

Youre running 32 bit which doesnt allow over 4 gb of ram. 64 bit will

400Mhz x2 = 800Mhz DDR
Set the RAM multiplier one up to run 1066Mhz. With 4 DIMMs you might not be able to manage 1066Mhz though, on that older revision Phenom, in which case you can run 800Mhz with lowered timings.
As for the missing RAM, see if there are options concerning "memory hole remapping" in the BIOS EDIT: 32-bit OS. That is your limit. 32-bit allows for 4GB of addressable space, which means up to 4GB of RAM would be detected. Factor in the VRAM of your video card, the BIOS ROM, and everything else with memory in it, that's how it comes out to something even lower than 4GB.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the answers! That tells me a lot. Haha. Guess it's time to upgrade to x64 then. Thanks again!
