Not exactly sure what you are asking, but if the TV is rated for 120Hz refresh rate, then you should be able to output at 120Hz via HDMI
post #3 of 7
Yeah if its rated at 120Hz and you set it to that then it'll run at 120Hz...

The TV is hooked up to my 460 SE through HDMI. Should it run at 120Hz or is 60Hz it?

Yeah it'll work, although the 460 isnt gonna pump out 120 fps in many games at high settings.

So check your refresh rate and see what it is?

NVCP should have all the answers...

Televisions advertising 120 or 240 Hz do not operate the same as a monitor that's rated for 120Hz.

Monitors that are capable of displaying 120Hz require the video card to send 2 full screen images per second to accommodate that refresh rate in order to display at that frequency. If the image isn't sent the screen can't display it. And if your video card is too slow it won't be able to keep up.

TVs on the other hand always receive 60Hz signals. Through cable, satellite, antenna, its all the same. The higher frequency is done through internal circuitry to smooth the frame rate. So its not the same thing as a monitor, and you will only have the option from your computer to display at 60Hz.
