Try to do an update. the latest gingerbread rom should be out already for you hand set. that might fix the issue
I live in Sydney Australia.

And yes we have a similar thing too.

Again i shouldn't have to use roms and i doubt it will fix the issue.

My opinion is either i have a DUD or HTC cant make put a decent speaker in to save their life.

Thats on the Desire though but the Desire HD probably uses the same speakers.

You rooted it? If it actually is an issue (haven't heard anything about it but hey) and somebody probably has hacked a kernel so the speaker can go much louder. Otherwise, your getting a bit on the deaf side and don't expect the iphone to be any better.

Oh please .

Now im getting deaf this is laughable.

Ive tested against 4 different mobiles.

A Blackberry , 2 Nokia's which cost < 100 bucks and a Iphone 3GS all which have a decent/acceptable in call volume.

Its hard to understand my issue if you cant actually hear it for yourself.

My hearing is actually perfectly fine ty

Tell whoever you got it from that the speakers are defective. Get a Desire HD without defective speakers.

ok, done some googling and the internet agrees with you.

Time to start hacking your phone if you want to fix it. Go here and educate yourself before attempting anything, once you've got the knowhow (well, just know what they are talking about) follow one of the various "how to" guides to rooting, install a custom rom and enjoy it

I can walk you through it if you want me to...

Already did this.

Tbh i didn't want to get another because i think the problem is a inherent manufacturing issue and the next Desire HD i get could probably have the same problem.

So i decide to just swap it over to a Iphone 4.

why trade a good phone for a lesser phone when you can fix it via software?

Principal.

The fact HTC cant produce something decent out of the box boggles my mind.

I shouldn't have to use a ROM to fix the issue. And it may or may not fix the problem.

And the debate Iphone 4 vs the HTC Desire HD is all opinions.

looks at my samsung captivate and *remembers how horrible it was at stock without lagfix and custom ROMs......

its okay.......its only a speaker issue....at least it isnt' a big issue like my SGS....
broken GPS, laggy RFS system......all fixed by custom ROM's and kernals
