Meh i really don't like the ribbon in office, went back to 2003 purely because of this, i mean i understand innovation and all, but why not have the old UI as an optional skin or something, that just really irked me off...

You'd honestly be better off with Linux, the OS X GUI is atrocious. (IMO at least)

Office 2007+ maybe easier to learn and easier to do basic stuff but if you know what you are doing it just wastes time. This is coming from some one who has used office 2007 for nearly 3 years now...

As for the new explorer ribbon... not really a fan.
This, ribbon is decent but for god sakes let us change it.

I like the ribbon, but I don't think explorer really needs it to be honest.

When you think about it, the current Explorer interface in Win 7 is actually quite gimped (unless you press Alt and get the normal menu bar to appear), with very little functionality immediately available. However, I'm not sure if this screen real estate hog is the right approach. In any case, menus are never efficient no matter how many different layouts you try. A keyboard combination is much faster than several clicks and lots of searching.

I must be some kind of mutant. When they introduced the ribbon I loved it right off the bat. Seemed like a much more intelligent and robust design than the standard way.

Only problem I have with this is after being spoiled by chrome I feel this takes up way too much screen real estate.

We're all here stating opinions. Nothing more, nothing less. Your opinion is that you enjoy the interface. Good for you. As long as you can use it to perform whatever task you need it to.

My issue isn't that the ribbon interface is coming to the computer. I figured it was only a matter of time until MS pushed it to a windoze release. My issue is that, like in the new version of office, you don't have a choice as to what interface to use. It's either the ribbon, or you use an older version of Office.

Why are so many tech companies afraid to give us a choice?

As long as they keep Win Classic theme, they can make it as fugly as they want too!

Definitely not liking it. I don't mind it in Office, but I don't want to have to use it all the time in Windows.

Is it just me, or is no one else realizing that this is likely for a touch interface, like a tablet? Not saying it won't/can't be used in desktop version as well. But it seems great since you won't be able to make use of keyboards shortcuts on a tablet....
