Best/Optimal Thermal Paste for Corsair H60?

Thread Starter
Quick question, figured I'd ask while I wait for newegg to get the H60 back in stock.

Just ordered a new case tonight as well (well, Refurbed anyways), Coolermaster 690 II Advanced.

Hopefully it'll result in better airflow, cooling, cable management, etc, than I can achieve with my current Thermaltake Armor, as well as shave off an extra 10-15 pounds off the weight of the case.

But I'll be buying the newer H60 pretty soon, and was wondering what the best thermal paste to use with the Corsair H50/60/70 series coolers was?

I've been using Mainly IC Diamond for my Air coolers for the past 2 years now (With Exception of Arctic Silver Ceramique for other peoples systems I've built, Friends, Family, etc), but wasn't sure if its "ok" to use with the H60 or similar coolers for optimum heat/thermal transference. Before anyone asks, I don't intend on lapping the base either.

This. If you want to take off preaplied, just remember not to over do it with the new stuff. Also, let the heatsink pressure spread the paste to avoid air pockets.

^This for sure & certain. x23-7783D is pretty well the best out there aside from Indigo Extreme. Which is a huge difference in price vs. the Shin Etsu (typically around $18 per 2 applications -vs- $4-5 for 1g ~2-3 apps of the Shin Etsu). Not that the Indigo is good for your intended application. It's much more suited for air cooling solutions.

alright, will try the pre-applied stuff.

Already knew it came with paste applied to it, but seeing as I never use the pre-applied or included tubes of junk on regular air coolers (if it comes pre applied), wasn't sure what they used on the H60 (H50/H70) models, which was why I wanted to know what the best stuff to use was.

Didn't realize it was already coated in Shin Etsu.

Also already knew how to apply the heatsink properly as well (same methods basically used when applying IC Diamond with my Xigmatec Dark Knight or other aftermarket coolers), but thanks for pointing that out.

Have been building PC's for over 10 years, just not OCing that much (last time I really OC'd anything was my Socket 939 3000+ Venice chip).

Thanks for the suggestions though.
