Laptop Memory

Thread Starter
My experience is with desktops and AMD. The laptop I'm looking at is an Intel.

With that being said, I'm not really up to speed on how memory works with intel.
I know the IMC on intel chips are different. So my question is, on the laptop im looking at, the standard configuration is with 3x2 gb. If I upgrade to 8gb it goes to 2x2 gb and 1 4gb. Does this cause any issues for concern, or is it just normal for intel?

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

BTW I'm looking at a ASUS g73 from xoticpc.com

Thanks
Money Pit

No, it'll do dual channel on the 2x2 and single on the 4gig. Also 8 gigs is way overkill, especially for a laptop, unless you plan on using it for video rendering or other work.
