All the AMD/Intel boards that I bought with IDE connectors had IDE cables.

Your HDD is Sata 3. You see those two L shaped looking connectors in this picture circled in red?

Well those are your sata connectors, the bigger L is the sata power to the PSU, the smaller L is the sata data connector to your motherboard. That picture was taken right from your newegg link of your HDD.

You should be good to do

Don't worry about the Sata 2/3 issues your HDD will work with your Mobo as long as you have an available Sata port, truth be told Sata 2/3 regular HDD's won't make much of a difference if any in speed. When you decide to get a SSD or a 10000RPM HDD's thats when you start to notice the difference in Sata 2/3 transfer speeds.

As for IDE cables, all recent Gigabyte boards I have purchased have come with them, I still have them all sitting in their packages in a box

Like others have said IDE isn't used much anymore with modern equipment since it severly hinders airflow in cases and just look terrible. Plus Sata transfer's quicker I believe.

If you just bought it recently chances are it is Sata as well, HOWEVER a local shop here is selling IDE CD/DVD drives for $5 less than the Sata equals. So I am willing to bet here someone has accidentally purchased the wrong one.

Same goes for the CD/DVD Drive, if you see those two L's then it is Sata.
