also thats the direction i was heading in with "case off, where is heat coming from"
they mentioned having cleared the psu fan out and having had the pc for a year, thats abit short for psu failure no?
what he can feel is probably the mosfets in the top left corner..which will be hot if he has a main board temp of 120+!
They have not mentioned about cleaning the PSU out, only the case....money is on the PSU

EDIT: I see he has tried to hoover out his PSU....that was never going to work you know? Smoking and cats+heat=sticky mess

Mony is still on psu..i have killed PSU's in 6 months
Could be a faulty sensor or maybe incorrectly tagged as mobo.

no the hoovering of the psu was mentioned.ofcourse the psu's internal heatsink could be caked up but in a year?surely not enough to kill it even with smoking and cats hairs inside?
also he did say the case was relatively clean.having cleaned it on a monthly basis.
my thought on the tmpin 120 odd was thats what you see when cores are unlocked, the unlocked core temps sensor is fubarred.
i dont think a mainboard could survive at temps of 120 tbh,but i was hoping a post showing mobo/cpu temps in bios might eliminate the cpu and narrow the issue down to either psu or mobo?i guess we will find out later.

Good Morning everyone.

Ok tried to turn on the machine and again it stalls and has the windows load screen but then flicks like 2 times and goes straight into start W7 normal/ repair etc. Repair doesn't do anything.

And the heat most definitly comes from the power box, it was superhot. The fan runs in the power box but very low/ slow. This btw is the PC I have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883229159
and the back fan used to be very noisy but stopped making the noise a while ago ( I admit I did hit the top of the PC a few times when it was to loud )

Could it be possible that I fried my power box when I did the stress test? It didn't get like hot hot but it was pretty warm but it went to hot a little later.
Since then I was unable to turn my PC on with W7 loading.

Thank you all again for your replies and Zumlah/Me is a she.. lol not that it matters I guess

hi!
i realised i was being presumptious saying he,i blame it on a male dominated community
it looks like you need a new power supply.
on the bright side you should still be under warranty?

Heya Mighty, sadly replacement warranty ran out a month ago, but they give me " tech support " which is an iffy one. And I have learned more from you and the others here than from direct talks with Cyberpower :/

Now, what sort of power supply I need... I have no clue, the box looks scary to me lol

Just a short question here for ya-when you turn on the computer and you get the screen that wants to repair windows, try hitting f8 and see if it will give you other choices includeing one that will say start windows normal. choose that and see if it will atleast boot up.

newegg says your psu is a 420w one,and you can buy power supplies from there too,a reputable brand (corsair) offer a 400w psu for $30+5 shipping, though you can ofcourse look around online, maybe ebay too.
Also be sure to look in the for sale section here for previously enjoyed ones on the cheap.
this seems worthwhile http://www.overclock.net/other-compo...-400w-psu.html

Hiya Mighty, sorry for getting back so late but I work long and odd hours. Thank you for looking this up and I just checked on newegg and saw this power supply box:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139017
Was this the one you were talking about?
It does however look like the power cord outlet on the back on the box is the opposite site then my current one, or maybe my eyes are giving up on me (long day).
The ueber awesome ones are a little expensive so if you could tell me if this is one I could use I will order it tomorrow

Thank you and everyone else so much again!

the one you linked looks like it will fit the bill.
you do realise you can turn the box 180 degrees so its upside down right?
its only pictured the waty it is so you can see the fan.
on your case it will be upside down or the fan will be doing nothing, which means then the plug is on the right side
when you go back to repair windows, you can select for it to perform a self diagnosis, which normally repairs the master boot record (MBR) but its not worth doing until you have your power supply in or it will fail half way through .
