Which cpu to pick? - Page 6

If he is looking to spend that money I would say wait until next month or two and get the Bulldozer.. You will love that.. Eight cores no waiting.

I would like to rephrase what was just said.

Save your Money FOR the GPU and the SSDs. Two in Raid 0 and a quad core and a Nice 5870 would let you play anything you want on Super HIGH RES.

Differing opinions doesn't equal fanboyism. That's just ignorant.

The system I threw up was a touch over 1100, so unless $40 dollars is significant, I don't know what to say about that... That's kind of messed up.

The price is comparable but when you bought yours, pricing was different. You can buy better stuff for the same money now.

I don't see why he would get less performance for the same price(in your mind) just because you think it's fanboyism to buy better stuff..

Your 2x5770 are slightly better I'll give you that, but more problematic. A Phenom II x4 is not in the same league as an i5 2500k and that is fact, not fanboyism.

Pretty sure my GPU is AMD, so I guess I have selective fanboyism. Also I have another system powered by an AMD CPU... Explain please.

Sure if he was a benchmark whore he would be in the Intel section asking around but he is in our neck of the woods and you need to find someone else to disciple into Intels Ledgendary Prowess as a processor. What is your BOTTLENECK?
I'm confused did you quote the wrong person? I'm for AMD remember, I was merely saying that my rig (aka something similar to what the OP would be building) is comparable if not better than an i5 rig with the same stats.

Alright I apologize, your previous comment wasn't 'fanboyism' rather it was just ignorant. I still don't see how you think that the i5 2500k is better than the Phenom II x4, maybe if he was overclocking but by the sounds of it all he wants to do is play games.

So you're saying a phenom x4 at 3.8ghz can compete with a 2500k clocked somewhere around 4.5ghz?

Apples and oranges! While the benches may say the i5 is faster (and it may actually be in fact faster) will you notice a performance increase that justified the cost? Probably not, unless you are overclocking it.

Relax ajmidd12 I was defending your comment not knocking it.

Now to Horsemania1956

I understand that Intel is your cup of tea.. No conflict there.

But to answer your questions.

Ignorant is as ignorant does. Enough said.

You are right. If he wanted a INtel device he would be speaking to you.

You know.. I don't disagree with you about INtel. It is a fast and effeciant system. But If I bought the INtel system that I wanted I would spend over 500.00 on the board and 999.00 on the processor and at that price I have already put myself in at 1499.00 and I haven't even bought the 12 Gigs of DDr3 2000 that I would want. Triple channel. That would be another 329.00. At this point I am at 1828.00 and the sound card that I want is 125. and the video card I want would be 269 at the least more like 500. for the new 560 Nvidia.
FUZZY MATH....

I think that since all the video games are making things for consoles that opinion is MUTE.

I have not noticed a single problem with my system.. No static at all.

Yes, play games. And a Sandy will get much, much higher FPS within those games. And will be much more useful, for more years than the AMD system. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/102?vs=288

WoW: 74 on the AMD, 119 on the Intel.
Dawn of War: 54 on the AMD, 82 on the Intel.
DA:Origins: 109 on the AMD, 159 on the Intel.

The performance and future potential of these 2 CPUs is pretty clear I think. (never mind the fact that the Sandy does it all for ~50 less watts.)

If you don't understand why that system is superior, for marginally more money, it's *you* that's trolling.

OP: Unless you need your machine *today* and you still want to consider AMD, then give it til June and see what Bulldozer brings to the table.
