Network Security BA degree, ECPI a good school? - Page 2

ECPI is a regionally accredited school, if you get a Bachelors, (or even MBA starting soon), it will be recognized by other schools.

TBH, I'm a bit tired of seeing the network security goons that get cranked out of this place. They enter the field upon hearing that there's some money there, give half a damn about their schoolin' then are spit out into the field.

Hello, just thought I'd weigh in. The advice you will get here is subjective and based on the experience I had going to ECPI. I am a graduate of ECPI with an AS and BS in Web Development. I can tell you that my experience was a positive one, and that the College itself is is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This is an important factor as mentioned in an earlier reply. As is the importance of a BS in moving up in your chosen profession. I have had good results and if one applies themselves to their education, it can happen for them too. The career services dept and the internships/externships are a big help to give you the real-world experience you will need - an often overlooked aspect for success in any IT field. Do your due diligence when making your decision as ECPI is not your only option, however, you might find the flexible scheduling, fast-paced degree programs, and locations convenient for you. Here's the ECPI toll free number at 1-800-986-1200 and the site is ecpi.edu

Good luck!

My personal experience is this: Good instructors, flexible schedule, most of my peers got jobs (not the ones that got DUIs) after completing our
BS degree in MIS (Management Information Systems). Classes are rigorous and you will learn a lot. The range of salary
that my peers from ECPI are getting range from 35k to 85k (some of us have more experience than others).
In my first year out of colege I'm making slightly over 40k (I have some PC repair experience before college).
I just recommended ECPI to my brother who is coming out of community college and wants to get his BS.
After going through their routing/switching classes i was able to get my CCNA 3 months after graduating. I went back
and refreshed for month to month and a half and passed it. This, to me, is another indication that they provide quality
education.

Just to add to my previous post: I know of people who went to ECPI who work at Fortune 500 companies, everything from
Advance Auto Parts to Rack-Space to Microsoft.
