I get what your saying.
But I got a really good crt and my 120 hz ASUS VG236 3d only works on the bottom 80% of the screen.
My crt has the 3d effect on the whole screen.
My ASUS has dark spots, and a small viewing angle.
My crt does not
With SSAA 4x my crt is significantally better.
Maybe I have a good crt. Maybe my asus monitor + 3d kit (that cost 500$) is faulty after a rma. I don't know.
But the LCD's in walmart and best buy don't look as good as my crt.
Now there are BAD crts, ones that are just bad.
There are bad LCD's; and good LCD's but I've never found a better one than my crt.
