Another GFX upgrade Thread help

Thread Starter
So I have my ATI 4850 I won at a Gamespot Contest and well it getting to the point now that im going to need a new graphics card.

I really like ATI alot
But I recently changed my mind, as I now love having dual monitors togeather and ATI is terrible for it seems.

Cuase when i turn on ATI overclock software ( The on in CCC), I only use it to turn fan speed up, my second monitor will start showing black bars random popup, Ive serched about it. It seems that its a problem with CCC driver. There driver support sucks i think.

Anyways.

Im looking at the GTX560ti or the GTX570
As i know the upgrade will almost be about almost twice as better as my 4850,
But my graphics card now starting to struggle on games, like crysis 2 i would i can play at 1920x1080 just not max, Starcraft 2 i have to lower graphics cause i need full 60fps for that game as im very competive in it.

For the money Im looking at 350max.
I thought the 6850 would be amazing, But as for the ati problem idk anymore.

Anyhelp would be appriciated.

Thank you.

There always seems to be issues with AMD's drivers but from what I have heard they have tightened things up considerably.

$300-$350 is plenty to get a nice GPU.
If you want to stick red, the 2GB 6950 is a good bargain right now.
If going green, the GTX 560Ti and 570 are good options.

I would also think my PSU would not be up to par for the 570.
No 8pin on my power supply only 2 6pins

Who the hell told you AMD is terrible for multimonitor setups? I want to know what that guy has been smoking.

Get the AMD 6950, extra Vram + chance on unlock if you buy reference 2GB.

The 570 is a crap card with ****ty VRMs, don't even consider it if you wanna OC.

I have always like ATI dont get me wrong, and it wasnt some person just reading online it seems common cause of the drivers i heard.

When i activate the overclocking software in CCC it black bars on my second monitor. So i always just keep the overclocking off cause of it.
I would love to get the 6950 but i have no desire to Flash to 6970, Dont wanna risk the brick.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Easy on the fanboi-ism there mate. My apologies if I offend but that is how it is coming acrossed to me. I have heard of issues from both sides of the fences when it comes to Red vs Green. I, personally, am a Nvidia user. I prefer them over ATI. I have had, over all, a better experience with Nvidia. Thats not to say that ATI is a bad company. This could of course go the other way as well. As you can see from my sig rig I kinda go against the grain. Ultra PSU( They have been superb for me. Never a hiccup.), CM Storm Sentinel Advance Mouse(people have complained about sensor issues. Works great for me. Never an issue). I guess what I am saying here is stick to knowledgeable posts. (Sorry Stefy, but you could have put in some actual useful info) Gather as much valid info as you can and make the best decision based on what you need.

By personal experience, I do have to say that when I am gaming with GT240 and my dual monitor setup I do see quite a difference if I shut down my secondary monitor. It can't seem to handle the extra requirments. I can only assume that the 4850 being of about the same quality of a GT240 that you would have some similar issues. Try disabling the secondary monitor in CCC when you are gaming. You should see a difference in Framerate etc.

You tried reinstalling your drivers? Also this might be a problem with your spesific card, not ATI in general, just saying. If you don't wanna unlock then either go with the 570 (don't expect any decent overclocking results at all) or go with the 6970. Since you're running 2 monitors, additional Vram is always nice, which is why I recommended AMD this time. The 560 is always there though...

I have issues with nvidia drivers. Point?

On topic:

I think that the 560 is a much better value. I hear that if overclocked, the 560 can come close to 570 performance. Also the 570 has been known to die while overclocking, and even occaisionally at stock.

Hmm intresting, Yes i just upgraded my driver to the new 11.3 i think it is.

But concerning ati vs nvidia stuff.

I want ATI cause the huge 2gb memory it has as i know helps alot with 2 monitors.

but i want Nvidia cause of the driver it has and better monitor support.

also 3d and Phyx are a plus also.

I was just looking at the 6950 twin frozr 3 Looks great but i dont know the 560ti is very very simlier in preformence and maybe better in some games. Plus added specs of the Phyx and 3d,

Question being now.
Would my PSU be enough for either of those cards.

500w rosewill +12V1@15A, +12V2@16A
Thinking if i get the 560ti i could also go ahead and get a good PSU with it.
But if not needed then i wouldnt.
I have no issue now with the 4850 i have with power and all the stuff i have in it.
