Hey guys, I'm new here and planning on ordering hardware for my first build soon. Not planning on gaming, I just want a good performing everyday pc with possibilities to upgrade. Budget is around $600. What should I replace, add, remove, etc.

Here's what I chose.

Mobo: Asus p7p55d-e lx (originally wanted p7p55d-e pro but $25 more, and I don't think I need it do I?)
Cpu: Intel i5 760
Ram: G Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM
Video: HIS H467QR1GH Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit DDR3
Psu: Corsair Builders Series CX430
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
DVDRom: Asus DRW-24B1ST
Case: Rosewill Destroyer
Windows 7

Honestly with that kind of budget I would look at 2nd hand stuff, or save up a $100 more and get a 2500k based system.

Looks good to me.
That will be a nice everyday PC, the only problem is the upgrade part. 1156 is dead 1155 is the new thing for this year.

Definitely take this into consideration! You'd definitely like a SB setup at this point.

Go AMD if possible. It's more budget-friendly.

Is there a noticeable difference between the Sandy Bridge and the Lynnfield? Keep in mind this will only be used for web browsing, Word, iTunes and occasional video editing. My previous pc was an HP Slimline s3027c, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+, 1gb ram, 256mb integrated. It job the job done, but it recently died(integrated video).

In that case another AMD would be more bang for you buck and suit your needs just fine.

Most of the items I chose are outdated, but I believe they are proven. Also, not that I have something against AMD, but since I started looking for a replacement I ruled out AMD(don't know why). I wish I could afford some higher end products like you guys, but this will do for now. Thanks guys.

I revised the build a little. I haven't ordered anything, but I already have the CX430.
