Take a look into "black out curtains". You'll be surprised at the difference they make. I'm getting ready to set up a custom built projector and found them (as soon as I can source another 1920x1200 LCD. My original overheated & died while testing) . Project's on hold since I'll be moving to a larger home in June, aside from the projector construction itself.
Gotta love that beautiful Florida hurricane season. I was born and raised in Miami/Homestead area (Andrew blew my roof off) and I think I like the dry heat out here in SoCal better then that god aweful get-your-mail-and-take-a-shower humidity. I didn't even know swamp coolers were used in FL though, thought it had to dry to get those things running efficiently, or maybe its just "has to be obnoxiously hot" to run efficiently? Haha wow I was just looking up what pads are the best for a swamp cooler and happened across a "how to overclock your swamp cooler
" article, that's uncanny.
Also, I'll definetely have to look into those blackout blinds, I've heard good things about them.
