GTX580 on 520w S12II? [solved]

Thread Starter
EDIT: TL;DR of the thread: UPS = fail

So my friend built a computer, with the following specs.

Xeon X3440 (i7 860 equivilent)
4GB ram
GTX580
1 SSD
1 HDD

All running off a Seasonic S12II 520W powersupply.

He now has problems, and says they his motherboard beeps in a pattern that indicates GPU Power issue. Since nV site says the a 580 need 600w, he thinks that the PSU is the problem.

What do you guys think?

Unless the unit is faulty, it definitely isn't the problem. That PSU is enough for a GTX 580. nVidia/ATI's power requirements are also inflated, you can ignore those.

How far did he push the card/xeon as far as overclock? (If he has overclocked them)
Well it only happens in some more GPU intensive games like Crysis 2 and BFBC2 on high settings, for other games there generally isn't an issue.

And no overclock.

(and yes, this is my computer)

Seems like it should be enough...

edit nvm I guess first I would double check the connectors and make sure they are all the way in.

Do you have a higher wattage power supply to test with?
