Watercooling - High temps?

Hey!

Following is my water setup:

XSPC Delta V3 CPU - 1366/i7
XSPC RS120 - Black
XSPC X2O 450 Pump/Reservoir
Noctua NF-P12-1300

I know it's "low end". But is it really that bad?

Some time ago, the pump stopped working. I then thought it was dead, and I demounted all of the watercooling.. I then got a Noctua D-14 cooler.

Today I mounted the watercooling again, and well the pump seemed to work So all good.

Now I've been running 5GHz at 1.42V for 24/7 overclock with the Noctua D-14 air.

12 hours prime95 blend @ 79-80C. Which is fine, since I get 60C under gaming.

Now with the watercooling I get 85C right now.. Which is WAY too high.. Same overclock.

I used the noctua paste btw.

What is wrong?

Rs 120 wont be helping you much there, basically same rad as an h50, would suggest t he rx model or something larger.

A single 120 rad probably isnt enough to cool a cpu overclocked to 5Ghz.

You're not using a very good block, and a stunted radiator, in combination with a not very good pump....in comparison to a top shelf air cooler. A 240 rad would tip the scales in the other direction a very good bit.

Than water cooling with a single 120 rad a weak fan and a somewhat out dated water block, yes.

XSPC Rasa CPU Acetal
XSPC RX360 - Black
XSPC 750 Dual Bay Reservoir Pump Rev.2
2. Low Noise 1700rpm 120mm
2. 120mm Fan Grill
1. 2 meter Clear 7/16"
6. XSPC - ¼" BSPP (G1/4) - ½" (12mm) - High Flow fittings
6. clips Ø 15,0 - 17,8 mm

Would this work better?

Is http://www.coolerkit.dk/xspc_rasa_75...it-p-1749.html enough for low temps or should I spend the 95USD more and go for the RX360 setup?

Either of those kits would have a considerably better block (one of the best performing block as a matter of fact), as well as FAR greater thermal capacity. With a Sandybridge 95W CPU you could do a GPU with a 360mm radiator with either RS or the RX. TBH, for a CPU only loop a 360mm rad is a bit overkill, especially a low power CPU like a 2500K.

Between the 2, I'd get the RS360. Otherwise with what you have now, simply geting an RS240 radiator would be enough to do you in all likelihood.

Hm okay..

I have no intention of cooling GPU.

- Should I then pick 240 instead of 360?

http://www.coolerkit.dk/xspc_rasa_75...it-p-1540.html

It's almost same price as the 360. But this would fit me better, as I think it fits on the top of my CM advanced

I think you should pick the 240 if it fits you more but only if it is the RX 240 and not the RS and the 360 is the RS. The RX series are superior to the RS and will yield lower temps.
