Thread Starter
I have an Dell MSI MS-7543 LGA 1366 Intel X58 Motherboard. Which is in my dell 730xps. I did some looking for the specifications for this mobo with no luck. I am trying to find out what the Lane allocation is? I want to SLI 2 gtx 470's and have my sound card in the last pci slot. I their anyway i can find out if this set up will work or do some kind of test lol?

That seems to look like another PCI-E 2.0 slot. But then again it can only be 4x. If you're not too sure, contact DELL and see what they say. There has to be documentation somewhere on it.

if your sound card is PCI-E and not PCI like you said then it wont matter as long as your first GPU is in the top PCi-E lane. Why? because there are only 32 PCi-E lanes and you want to run at 16x each card then you are left with 0 lanes for the sound card, BUT when you put the sound card into any slot with those two GPUs, one will run at 16x and the other at 8x, when that happens it makes no difference what slot the second card is in, unless its a 4x only lane which more X58 mboos do not have.

Find the manual to your mobo and link us to it.
