hey all. had the sig rig for almost a year and im starting to mod. started the work on stealthing my optical drive and will probly finish it next weekend. (need glue and couple dremel bits) was also think of sleeving my power supply. this is where ocn comes in. im clueless as what sleeving/heatshrink to buy let alone how much i need. id need enough for the 24pin, 8 pin cpu/atx, 2 pci-e 6 pins, 5 fans, ~6" for the sata power for the optical and some extra for error room as ive never sleeved a psu before. ive read a few sleeving guides and practiced removing the pins on the extra 4 pin atx

id like some high density weave and im torn between all black or maybe black with touches of blue to match the mb. undecided until i see some colors. also if i do choose to go blue id paint the gpu accent from red to blue. budget is ~$50, the less the better but i am flexible. dont need the highest quality stuff, main qualities im looking for is density of the weave and durable.(wont separate/unravel moving thru the grommets of the case)

also just a little concerned that if i dont put the pin back in right is there any chance of damaging any components?

shot of case in case you can see anything i didnt/suggestions. sorry about the quality, only camera i have is in my iphone

You need paracord or clean cut.

You'll also need some heatshrink and an extraction tool. Pins and crimpers are helpful too, since you'll undoubtedly break a pin or 2.

Go with the furryletters stuff instead of paracord. Much easier to work with, doesn't snag on pins...

You pretty much have to put pins back correctly otherwise they won't fit. Can't put a square peg into a round hole...

50 feet will NOT be enough for everything in the case. You'll probably need double that. If you order through FurryLetters directly instead of using ebay (and mention you're from OCN) the sleeve will be cheaper. I think I ordered 200 feet for 35 bucks or something like that...

thanks for the advice. i was looking at paracord and if i do buy it i was planning on making life easy by killing a roll of scotch tape and just taping the pin to one of the strings inside and pulling it thru. does furryletters have a color like the colonial blue from paracord?
as for length im not sleeving the whole thing just whats mentioned in op

paracord looks good. was messing around with my 4 pin tester cable and found that a seem ripper works fine as a tool. doesnt have 2 ends, just takes a little longer and a lot easier on the fingers than staples. any links to heatshrink? found http://www.mcmaster.com/#heat-shrink-tubing/=bqhc40 i like the idea of adhesive on the inside. wont go crawling away after a while. any good? just dont know what size/how much i need

id rep for the links if i could rep u

I believe furryletters also sells heatshrink, and they do have a blue color (not sure which hue).

I did a review on Venomous Cable sleeve a few weeks ago. There's a lot of info in that review, and even if you don't buy Venomous, a lot of the info is valid for other sleeve and heatshrink as well.

That's what I'm using (3/16" diameter 3:1). The adhesive works well and you can pull it off, with a little effort, if you mess up. I bought 8 feet but I'm thinking I should have bought 12. We'll see.

nice guide! lots of info and it looks like awesome sleeve only thing stoping me is shipping from australia to us is half the rough budget. as for heatshrink color its probably to much of a hassle to find color matching heatshrink. if i can great, if not no biggie

most likely the shrink ill get, unless there's adhesive shrink elsewhere for cheaper. site has it at $22 for 12' + shipping (if applicable)
like the weave idea. its got me sold on black with hints of blue. im assuming the wires are shielded and wont create any ripple or anything wierd in the psu that could fry something?
going to sleep on it but right now its looking like paracord - 100' black, 50' colonial/royal blue. any opinions on which to match? mobo socket color (ram/pcie) or heatsink (nb/mosfet cooler covers)? plus a paint to match for the gpu accent would be nice to

so im going with black and royal blue for colors. i could get the cleancut as it does look easier to work with. or possibly clean cut for both if they have royal blue. paracord may be harder to work with but so far it wins on density and price per foot. from what ive gathered ill need 100' of black, 50' of royal blue and 12' of heatshrink. (if clean cut has royal blue ill get 75' just to play safe/in case i want to add more blue. current plan is 1-3 blue and 3-5 black for the 6 pins)

only thing im curious of is do i really need 12' of heatshrink to sleeve whats mentioned in op? not that $7 is much of an issue it just that could be put to shipping and handling. quick replys would be appreciated as i would like to order above mentioned by tonight so hopefully i can get started this weekend. also +rep for a suggestions/links to paint to match the gpu accent to the nb heatsink color. dont need to order that immediatley but would be very nice to have on hand
