Is my LinX running correctly?

Thread Starter
When I run LinX instead of it pushing my CPU to a constant 100% it will sometimes drop CPU usage down to 12%. I have all power saving options disabled (I think) And my cpu temps don't pass 85C. So basically, is LinX supposed to fluctuate that much, or is it supposed to run the CPU at 100% all the time? For me Prime 95 runs at 100% all the time.

It drops CPU usage as it flushes RAM between runs. This is perfectly normal!

Ah, thank you for the quick reply! Also since you must use LinX yourself I was wondering something. I get blue screens when my computer needs more voltage and prime 95 takes atleast 5 hours on blend to blue screen, is linX any faster? It really sucks having to wait 5 hours just to get a blue screen telling me to increase voltage and then try again.

LinX is much harder on your chip than P95. It can present helpful (lol) BSoD's in a fraction of the time. Beware that it also generates significantly more heat. I recommend leaving RealTemp up and coming back to monitor its temperatures every 5-10 minutes.

yup linx and ibt r quite faster in producing results than prime 95......

Out of curiosity, how many runs of LinX is good for preliminary stability testing? Because I have passed 20 runs of LinX but failed at 5.5 hours of Prime 95 blend.

It's all a matter of how stable you want your computer to be. I'm a big fan of LinX and prefer to run at least an hour (however many runs that may be). 20 runs and five and a half hours of P95 will probably be enough for just gaming, web browsing, etc. Still, no harm in giving it one more step up in Vcore. That'd probably have you just right!

CPU: 1.3625
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.66
QPI/DRAM Core VOlt: 1.36875

For me my Vcore constantly needs more voltage as I increase my QPI voltage. And I can never seem to have enough QPI voltage.

My main questions is, aren't these voltages just a little extreme for just 3.7GHz on an i7 920? I see people using C0 chips like me who run fine with 1.35Vcore MAX @ 3.8GHz.

And here I am using my above voltages at 3.7GHz and can't seem to get more than 5.5 hours stable in blend. Since my BSOD's keep asking for more QPI voltage is it possible my RAM just sucks?
