Which SSD should I get?

Thread Starter
I was looking at buying a C300 256GB, but I saw that the C400 and the Vertex 3 are out/coming out. Is it worth it to get the newer drives, or is the C300 fine. How are the speeds of the new drives.

Thanks.
C300 is nice, C400 is slightly better but the vertex 3 looks to be insane on speeds but the fab process is new and nobody knows yet on how they will last.

someone correct me if i am wrong on that info

So for the vertex 3, there is only a 120GB and a 360GB version? nothing in the middle?

EDIT: only a 120GB version?

The release date for the c400 is April 26th IIRC. Superbiiz is selling the OEM version (Micron C4) but they are out of stock.

I am leery of anything that has the OCZ name attached to it. They have had problems in the past with their cheap but fast SSD's I would not think this go round would be much different. Look at Newegg and see the reviews compare with Crucial/Intel then make the decision...It's the tortoise vs hare dilemma. Fast but iffy vs slower but stable. Just depends on your risk level.

Myself being more conservative I will be going with the crucial product, don't care if the writes are slower its fast enough where it counts.

another vote for the RevoDrive X2. I have three different SSD's on my system including the crucial real C300 256 GB(on sata2) and an Intel G2 160GB. The RevoDrive X2 makes them look like they are standing still. Plus it overcomes the limitations of the sata connection.
