You should also look at the packages both offer, many companies will give a large discount if you bundle services with them i.e. TV/Internet/Phone. Most people I know will have some sort of cable or satellite TV. I can not presume to know that you are one that will have it or not. You may or may not have phone (most people now are only going with cells).

So the breakdown example. I have Verizon Fios, just going with internet it would cost $69, going with internet and TV $139, or go with all 3 for $129. It makes sense to go with all 3.

Now with this new fangled thing called the internet and this large company called Google, you could pair this with 2 of the other 3 of the other technologies mentioned before. This is called Google Voice, so pick up the bundle for your internet/TV and phone. Get a Google voice account then add both your home phone and your cell phone numbers to Google Voice and this will help cut down on your cell phone bill also. Just give out the Google Voice phone number as your main.

Haha. I was just thinking about Verizon Fios. I work in the IT Department of the primary customer service contractor for Verizon. If you have ever had to call about a bill or to order/change anything chances are you talked to the company I work for. I spent several months setting up those bundles before I was promoted and bundling is the way to go no matter what company you choose. biggrin.gif

But thats real Fios, with an actual fiber line running to the house, not the fake and slow crap Qwest pushes as being Fios.

yeah I wish we had verzion fios here! Bundling could be the way to go if you need/want those services. I am just going to go with interent most likely. I have a tuner for OTA channels, can watch videos from the internet, netflix, my boxee box. Good enough for me lol I never even watch anything on cable at my parents house so it is just taking time to convince the GF

So how does qwest work? Is it not dsl? They have two options on their site... one is just internet the other is internet and phone. It is actually cheaper to get it with the phone. Is it using the phone line?

Also, does anyone know the answer to my installation question on the first page?

GL convincing a woman, she doesn't need TV
without knowing the wiring diagram or how it all interconnects it is impossible to determine the installation question.

About the installation: i think that depend on your apt complex setup and the internet provider, they might charge some fees for that. My apt has the internet outlet in all rooms and i can hook up to any of them, Qwest didn't charge me any extra tho.
I don't use their phone service so i can't really answer ur question. By the way, thanks to your thread i just upgraded my internet to 2x faster for only $5 more + a free month. After reading your thread, i went to check out my Qwest online account and they happen to offer Upgrade speed service which is just in for my apt. So i went from 12mbps down/896kbps up to 20mbps down/5mbps up for only $5 more

So you have it so you can just connect a device in the outlet instead of the router? I want everything to be wired so it would be nice to just connect a device such as a 360 into the outlet if it is in another room. Then I could just use something like this to connect more than one device into that outlet.
