Low PPD on my 2500k?

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am running the rig in my sig with my 2500k at stock speeds and the 570 at 742Mhz and using the F@H client version 7.1.21 and I am only getting like 1100 PPD out of my 2500k using regular smp which is using all four threads, is this right? My GPU is pulling about 15k PPD which I thing is what I should be getting but I have seen people on here saying they are getting 25-30k PPD with their 2500k, granted they are probably overclocked but still 1100 PPD doesn't seem right. Any suggestions? I have been folding for a little over a week and have over 100k so I think if would qualify for big adv folding by now if that would help.

Have you applied for a passkey yet? People only get those points with the bonuses the passkeys give you and most of them are probably doing bigadv units which gives you better ppd than normal smp units as well.

If you need to get a passkey or need to know more about it check out this page.

I don't have or know what hfm is, still pretty new to this just started about a week ago. The only client or folding application I have is the beta F@H client version 7.1.21

Here is a link
to my folding account name if that info will help

The v7 doesn't show bonus IIRC so the numbers your seeing may be correct.

Also, don't leave that thing at stock. Right now, your 2500k is screaming OVERCLOCK ME. Go ahead, lean into your tower and listen for it, you'll hear it.

Don't lean too far, there may be fans in there.

well actually when I lean close and listen all I hear is my little baby TX3 fan whining and my PSU telling me it doesn't have much more to give what with my 570 folding too. I would like to do a mild 4.2-4.4 OC once I get better (read quieter) CPU cooling.

I'd like to get more opinions on whether or not this PPD for my CPU is right or if something could be wrong, but what about big adv folding? Is that something that I should try before I OC my CPU? and if so what do I need to do to start that?

Officially, in order to fold bigadv units, you need a CPU with 8+ cores. A workaround exists for now, but I really wouldn't suggest folding bigadv with your chip at stock. You usually need a pretty high OC with the 2500k in order to finish those types of units in time. There is a PPD database that you can check out to compare your numbers with those of other members.

I don't know about translating the PPD value reported by v7 (base value) to the values in PPD database spreadsheets (base value + bonus).

Zodac...?

Alright so big adv is out of the question for now then, still would appreciate any further opinions about whether or not my PPD on the CPU is where it should be or if something is wrong.

P.S. I think you link is broken doritos, but I have looked at the PPD spread sheet that is posted somewhere here for the sandy CPUs and that's where I got these 25k+ numbers.
