My current GTX 470 is a big disappointment , because of its poor overclockability, this card is EVGA and it comes with 1.025 as a stock voltage
the max overclock @ 1.087 is 775 MHz core and 1800 MHz memory (have to keep fan at 100% to prevent it from crashing)
My friends highly overclocked GTX 460 will crush this card at any thing..
I am really started to hate that card, feel like kind of cheated... lol
Waiting for your suggestions guys...
and what you guys will do, if you are troubled with a poor overclocker ?
Even if your buddy got a miraculous 460 that OC's to 1GHz, it's not going to remotely 'crush' your 470 at 775MHz. Try comparing your scores on the Heaven or Metro benches with settings maxed out and then tell his 460 can 'crush' your 470 on anything
Honestly, a really good OC'ing 470 will do about 825MHz core at 1.087V ... and trust me, the 50MHz difference isn't going to produce an FPS increase that is at all
noticeable during gameplay.
As suggested, you might try some good quality TIM (and a good quality spreading job
) to see if you can get the temps down a bit.
Also, try OC'ing the core with the memory left at stock. My card's core will OC quite a bit better with the memory at 1760MHz vs. with it at 1800MHz.
