Computer freezing every 1 to 20 seconds

I'm getting 1/4th second freezes every 1 to 20 seconds. Listening to music is awful cause it creates loud noise and gaming is almost impossible. I assumed it was graphics card so I have an older one in now and am getting exact same problem. I have an i7 920 and 6gb of ram. I didn't overclock either while trying to get this problem figured out. Do any of these specs seem abnormal?

Running windows7 x64, have killed all services/processes not needed. I'm going to start trying to replace things like NIC and soundcard if no one thinks any of those specs are off. I don't know anyone who has an extra at the moment so it is going to be a hassle.

Maybe your PSU is faulting out? Try bumping ur vcore. And what type of freezing are you getting?

EDIT: Also try reseating your CPU, maybe a bent pin??

The screen freezes for 1/4th of a second. It is sort of like if you are playing a high fps game and might have a fast freeze when there is just too much crap on the screen... except mine freezes while doing nothing, no applications even open. I was drawing circles with my mouse on my desktop for a longtime to track it. Playing a game it doesn't happen much more often so I don't think it is temperature related. When music is playing it will output a chainsaw white noise hell screech. Not sure how to describe the freezing any better.

What is vcore? Is that the same as QPI/DRAM Core Voltage? Right now it is set to auto but has a range of 1.20v to 2.5v.

In my bios I have CPU Voltage, CPU PLL Voltage, QPI/DRAM Core Voltage, IOH Voltage, IOH PCIE Voltage, ICH Voltage, ICH PCIE Voltage, DRAM Bus Voltage.

Edit- when I'm moving my mouse and it freezes the mouse skips ahead to where it should have been at the unfreeze. That is why I thought it must be the graphics card, but changing the card and the problem with sound makes me think it is something else.

VCore = your CPU Voltage.

May also be your RAM. Check the voltage.

I think its a Memory issue , try run MEMTEST and see the results, also try to reinstall the OS.

After running memtest, changing IRQ's, updating and un-updating all possible drivers/bios/settings, swapping the #*(%@ powersupply, learning more about voltages then i ever wanted to know (and yes, in retrospect i wish i could undo it and remove the knowledge), swaping gpu slots, swaping ram slots, redoing the cpu heatsync, unplugging every component in the machine as a last ditch effort before chunking the motherboard to the trash, I Found The Problem.

Zonet 802.11n Wireless PCI Adapter ZXEW1642 is "Compatible" with windows7, and i have been using it for 8 months now, but it isn't really compatible. I have been going through strange crashes and off & on tweaking settings, and downclocking everything over the last 8 months cause the symptoms have been so minor and weird. There are actually very few cards compatible with windows7, though the microsoft windows7 compatibility center says they are (but manufacturers don't). My wmp11 wireless-b card from 6 years ago is another example. So for now I'm using a 50' wire and everything is running flawlessly.

I suggest anyone reading this google searching Windows 7 pci wireless or just look at any pci wireless card reviews on amazon, sorted by newest first. For all the threads on here with windows7 users complaining about freezing, I suggest upping the wireless card closer to the top of the culprit list.
