Up to you OP. With a 1090T I'd want to get the most cooling area possible.

Whatever you do you need sinks on your VRMs. That's likely the cause of this debacle.

At 1.52V on an x6 I wouldn't rule out the possibility of hot VRMs. it's an 8+2, but still, unheatsinked. ASUS OCP (over current protection) usually throttles down as protection, due to VRM temps - similar to how CPUs throttle at high temps.

Im just chiming in here, But i have the 87td evo as well. No heatsinks either, and im looking to get some. Are there any purpose heatsinks aside from those on new egg that will work for this board? I saw the heatsinks on the 89gtd i think it was and they are massive! the vrm and the nb are like huge! Would anyone sell a kit or something with large surface areas like those? or are we guys stuck with those little copper guys?

Just did the same! Almost went with the bigger ones, but their installed pictures showed me that the small ones where the right ones.

Even though our computer room is kept at 15~17C I know I have been pushing my luck with my sig rig and its 4+1 power phase. I really need want a Crosshair IV Formula, but with BD so close I am doing my best to wait it out and see what happens with the new socket and bios upgrades.
