Weird Windows XP problem

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I was hoping I would get some kind of help here since Google failed me for the first time. Okay, here it is. I am running Windows XP sp3 and every time I boot windows CMD opens on its own. Naturally I assumed it's on the start up list or w.e, so i checked msconfig and it wasn't listed or anything. I run a registry check with CCleaner and nothing. I run multiple virus/malware scans and nothing again. So my question is, why and how do i disable CMD from opening itself up on startup?

When did this first begin happening (any unusual settings changes or installation, partitioning, etc.)?

If it's not in Msconfig, and it's not from a recent software change, normally I'd suspect virus. You say you scanned and found nothing. What did you scan with, and did you scan in Safe Mode? Some malware is able to hide while in normal Windows mode, but in Safe Mode it can't hide, so it's found.

If you did your virus scans in Safe Mode, then the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is checking the autoexec.bat file. It's located in the C: drive. You will have to turn on viewing hidden files/folders to see it. Right click on Autoexec.bat and copy the contents on here if you don't mind.

Manufacturer: me
ASUS P5NSLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Intel
Intel c2d e6600 @ stock 2.4 GHz
ATI Radeon 4850 512 mb
4 GB DD2 ram (i run memtest86 all sticks are fine)

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with the hardware because it only started doing this yesterday and I've had the same build for a long time

Of course I run the scans in safe mode I run them with AVG, Avira, Avast and Kasperski. Also I did a Malwarebytes scan.

edit: when i open autoexec.bat with notepad, it is empty, literally
