PCPER has GPU-Z reading a 128bit memory bus, where it's supposed to be 256. Is that a GPU-z issue?

It reads as 128-Bit because AMD has rebranded the 5750 and 5770 (both 128-Bit) as the 6750 and 6770 (which are only available in OEM applications).

So GPU-Z must be confusing the 6790 with one of these cards.

AMD/GPU-Z should have this issue fixed by their next driver/software update.

I read that too but all the cards on sale will be non-reference. But the one from Sapphire for example is pretty much identical to their 6870 so maybe. Somebody should try it out.
Crossfire performance looks pretty good though but how does it compare to the 460..

Price is about £105 in the UK. That's not bad as a 6850 is about £130 and a GTX 460 768 is about £120. The 5770 is around £95 so compared to that the price is good + it overclocks well but I would still get a 460 or 6850 myself, unless this unlocked. =)

Just like the GTX 550, this card can be totally ignored. GTX 460 & HD 6850 >>>>> GTX 550 & HD 6790.

Overall, it is better than GTX 550 Ti in most cases but the difference is usually small between the two.

Moreover, you can get GTX 550 Ti for $115 after rebates
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-078-_-Product

Also, you can get GTX 460 768MB for 130 after rebates, and it is faster than HD6790
Unless AMD drops the price of HD6790 then there is no reason to buy it.

i think ill pass on this card. probably would buy it at 120-130, but seeing as how you can pick up a 6850 for the same price after rebate and a 6870 for $25 more after rebate, i think it is a no go.

Nah, I don't think NVidia needs any help killing the 550. They're doing a great job on their own.

Getting a cheap 6850 on sale/used is a better option imho.
