Help! broken flash drive

Thread Starter
My friends flash drive just stopped working and I need to repair it if I can.
I have circled the piece that has fallen off the flash drive. I think it is a capacitor but I am not sure. I was hoping to solder it back on but I was wondering if I short the pads would it let the flash drive work again at least enough to get the data off of the drive.
