HD 650 - Which soundcard/DAC? - Page 5

Thanks for all the input, I'm learning a lot.

I might stick with the E7+E9. They fit my budget perfectly, and from what i've read most users on Head-Fi.org who own the combo, along with the HD 650 report great synergy with it, which is always a plus.

There's a thread about it here:

Also, apparently Denmark is still in the stone age when it comes to headphone amplifiers and the like, which means I really don't have the giant selection that you guys do. I don't believe any of the Schiit products are an option. I still haven't decided anything yet, though, and I'm still open to suggestions, but it should preferably be something they have on Amazon.co.uk or any other site that ships cross country with reasonable prices.

It's the downfall (or not, if you like that sound) of the all-tube design. Asgard is an all SS design, Lyr is a combination of both. From what I've seen all 3 are highly regarded, provided you match lower/higher impedance phones with the correct model.

Tube design will always have increased THD inherently thus why some people like it because increased THD = 'warmth'. Anyway, IM(D) counts more, not THD.
